Flygt D8050.280 corrosion resistant vortex pumps, are made in stainless steel, top to bottom, and can handle a pH-range of 2-14. The risk of clogging is completely eliminated because the impeller is recessed which leaves a wide, open passage through which solids can pass. The recessed impeller also eliminates the need to make adjustments caused by wear. Options for stainless steel are AISI 316 or AISI 329. Threaded cable entrance, flexible stainless steel cable sleeve are available. The typical applications are sewage and waste water pumping, industrial effluent handling, the chemical industry, food processing, the textile industry etc.

With a vortex pump, flow through the hydraulic unit is produced not by the actual impeller, but rather by a rotating vortex created by the impeller. Because the pumping action is created by the vortex, particles in the liquid do not come in contact with the impeller itself, thus minimizing wear. Another advantage is the open design of the volute in conjunction with the use of semi-recessed impeller allowing larger solids to pass freely through the volute.
